Tintoretto’s Miracle of the Slave

Tintoretto created this oil on canvas painting at the age of thirty. It is known as the painting that made his reputation. He uses foreshortening and had an unusual way of deciding about the light and shading of his paintings. He made wax models and would arrange them in the formation he wanted. He would then use the light to determine where the shadows and highlights would be on the figures in the painting.
