Botticelli’s Adoration of the Magi

Botticelli’s Adoration of the Magi is now featured in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence and was one of the first paintings done by Botticelli that gained him mass popularity.  He makes use of many of the suggestions in On Painting by Alberti such as variety and abundance, symmetry, and the use of an agent.  The agent in this painting (far right) happens to also be a self portrait of the artist.  He also included many other historical figures such as Cosimo, Piero, Giovanni, and others from the Medici family.
