A gondola is a traditional Venetian flat-bottomed boat used in the Venetian lagoon. Gondoliers propel the boat forward by pushing their oar against the bottom of the shallow bed of the lagoon. Traditionally gondolas were the main form of transportation around Venice. Now in days the boats are primarily used as a tourist attraction, transporting tourists through out the city.
